JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS
This knife belongs to my father-in-law who occasionally asks me to sell one of his Case knives, or an old lock and key, a safe plate or tons of other stuff from his old locksmith shop. I will tell you up front I know nothing about knives, especially Case collectors' knives, and if asked the difference between, say, a steak knife and a Case knife, I'd say that steak knives are serrated. This knife is not.
What little I know about Case, I learned from my father-in-law and from my research on eBay's completed auctions. This is a folding knife that commemorates our bicentennial. It has a closed length of about 5 1/4", a genuine stag handle and a stainless steel blade.
One side of the tang is stamped Case XX Stainless U.S.A. - with dots under the U.S.A. I'm told it is a 4 dot knife, but because of the hinging I cannot confirm that. On that same side of the blade, printed in red on a blue design is "The American Spirit". Engraved at the base is 0996. (Out of 10,000)
The back side of the blade is blank except for 5165 engraved at the base.
