1981 Lady Diana Royal Wedding Silver Proof Crown Coin Uncirculated Charles & Diana Sterling Silver coin, original box from mint, Elizabeth II In 1981, 30 years before Prince William and Catherine Middleton were all the rage, the term " Royal Wedding" was a reference to William's mother, Lady Diana Spencer and her marriage to Prince Charles of Wales. All of the United Kingdom, as well as the world, was in awe of the spectacle, leaving everyone mesmerized. To commemorate the day, The Royal Mint created a select few coins in their honor. The reverse of the Royal Marriage Crown (25 Pence) features profile portraits of Prince Charles and the soon-to-be Princess Diana, a design by Philip Nathan, and the text: H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER, as well as the date, 1981. The coin's obverse is the famous portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,by Arnold Machin. This gorgeous Silver Proof Crown Coin includes the original Royal Mint Box , which shows some wear on the bottom. The coin was stored in a bank vault for years and would appear to grade quite well - check out the pictures and judge for yourself!
