1983-P WASHINGTON QUARTER "SPITTING EAGLE" NEW VARIETY - NGC MS65 - POP. 74!!
- Source: eBay
*BRAND NEW Designation from NGC! The 1983-P Washington Quarter "Spitting Eagle" Variety. Similar to the 1891-CC Morgan Silver Dollar VAM-3 Variety that has the same "spitting eagle." There is a struck through die coming down from the eagles' beak, looking like it is spitting. Make sure you take a look at the listed pictures! This variety is officially designated as a NEW variety, and is considered an "error" coin. The 1983-P is big time RARE in MS65 alone, and with this new variety, it is ultra rare! There are NO other varities or errors as scarce as this one in terms of population figures. For comparison purposes, the 1891-CC Morgan Silver Dollar has had 42 graded by NGC in MS65 with this very same error. That coin is a whopping $5000+. Granted, the Morgan Silver Dollars are over 100 years old and the mintage was miniscule compared to this coin, but the number that have been graded as MS65 Spitting Eagles, is pretty close. This coin has a lot of room to increase in value to better reflect its rarity, and I think this will happen when more collectors are made aware of it. Had you heard of it before now?*Graded a Superb GEM MS65 by NGC - USA Country Label *Population in this grade is a mere 74! The 1983-P Washington Quarter in MS65 is rare enough ... read more
