1990's Walt Disney artist CARL BARKS Rough Pencil Sketch Donald Duck Nephew left Product Description "SATURDAY'S TOYS Presents..." an original prelimary pencil sketch from the hand of legendary comic artist, CARL BARKS (1901 - 2000). Drawn by Carl Barks in blue pencil; and signed by Carl Barks with graphite pencil at lower right. Features one of the nephews of Donald Duck; looking to the left. Drawing is 4" x 4.5"; and trimmed sheet is 5" x 11" The exact date of the drawing is not known; though it is presumed to have been drawn during the 1980's or early 1990's. The project for the drawing is also not known. Several drawings of this type were simply displayed within the artist's portfolio and were available for purchase at the special event. Perhaps best known for his creation of the Walt Disney character of "Scrooge McDuck", comic artist Will Eisner referred to Barks as "the Hans Christian Andersen of comic books." As obtained through the estate of a prominent Napa Valley family who obtained the item directly from Carl Barks and his Carl Barks Studio. They were invited to an exclusive private showing in July 1995 which occurred at the National Fantasy Fan Club (NFFC Disneyana Convention); held at the Inn at the Park (now known as the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort) on Harbor Blvd; adjacent to Disneyland.
