1994 Royal Copenhagen Christmas Shopping Xmas Ornament

Royal Copenhagen began the tradition of making annual Christmas plates in 1908, when one of the company's artist, F. A. Hallin, produced "Mary with Child". The decoration of each plate is cut in relief and interchanging layers of color produce a variety of blue shades that make the Danish plates famous. In addition to seasonal Christmas items, the company, founded in 1775, produces china dinner services and figurines.

The ornament was made using the same process, with an illustration on the obverse and the date and Royal Copenhagen (crown and waves) logo on the reverse. The 1994 "drop" ornament is titled Christmas Shopping. It depicts a father and his children who are returning home after Christmas shopping. His wife and the children's mother is standing in the doorway of their house. A warn glowing porch lamp greets the shoppers. The gold-gilt hanger has a vintage gas lamp motif; the ornament is in its original box.

The artwork on the 3½ inches long ornament was created by award wining artist Sven Vestergaard. It is in mint condition.
