19thC miniature monochrome portrait engraving inscrbd Mrs Abingdon #6346

Please see further photographs below. A nineteenth century miniature monochrome portrait engraving, inscribed on the back Mrs Abingdon Feb 1816, in an ebonised or lacquered frame and with a metal loop for hanging. The frame measures approximately 5.25” by 4.875” and the visible print approximately 4.25” by 3.875”. There is some staining to the bottom right hand corner of the engraving (when looking at it). The frame itself, though structurally sound, is a little chipped in places (see photographs) and would probably benefit from expert cleaning. The back is lined with brown paper so is probably not the original backing, which may have had an attribution which has been copied onto the newer backing. This is a supposition, though and has not been checked. Stand not included.

I am no expert – I just collect things. I do try and do research on the bits and pieces I get though so try and give as much information as I have been able to get myself.

Most of my lots are vintage or antique or otherwise “used” and reasonable wear and tear must be taken into account. Therefore my lots are sold “as seen/found”. If I know that an article is damaged or not working in some way, I will state this in the main description.
