You are bidding on a collector’s roll of 20 brilliant uncirculated 2007-D George Washington dollars. This issue was the very first in the Presidential coin series that will eventually honor every U.S. president in the order served. Four different coins are issued every year and they are intended for general circulation, especially for toll roads and vending machines. These coins are described as “golden” because of the gold-like color of the copper-zinc-manganese-nickel alloy used to manufacture the coins. Presidential portraits are used on the obverse side of each coin and the Statue of Liberty is used on the reverse side of every coin. Incuse edge lettering contains the date, mint mark (P or D) and the inscriptions “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust”. According to the U.S. mint, each Presidential $1 Coin will have a six-week period during which the Federal Reserve will distribute the new coins only to depository institutions in wrapped $25 rolls. I originally purchased 500 Washington dollars so that I could prepare collector rolls for my grandchildren. I am now selling the extras. It is important to note that coins stored in the U.S. mint paper wrappers will eventually tarnish, so for that reason I immediately transfer coins into air-tight, non-reactive polyethylene numismatic tubes.
