At the request of Teddy Roosevelt, Augustus St. Gaudensdesigned his High Relief $20 Gold Piece in 1907. But due to the practical considerations of minting coins for circulation, the coin was never produced the way he designed it. Now, over 100 years later the Mint is striking the 2009 $20 Saint in High Relief and the results are spectacular. This modern version is struck in 99.99% fine gold and contains one full troy ounce of gold. If you wanted to buy the 1907 version in MS68 it has sold for $300,000 or more. Today's 2009 High Relief Saint Gauden's is available for a fraction of the price--and you'll agree, it's much more impressive. The coin of the year without a doubt!The 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin is packaged in an elegant mahogany wood box with velvet lining. A wood platform encasing the coin capsule allows the coin to be visible without tilting it. The box is finished with a high-gloss lacquer and the inscriptions used are in a font similar to those used in the early 1900s when the original coin was produced.
