61st ACADEMY AWARDS PROGRAM (March 29, 1989) w/mint ticket

PROGRAM AND TICKET FROM 61st ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS (held at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on March 29, 1989 beginning at 5:30 PM, outer covers are 12 x 9 inches; attached inner program is 11 x 8.5-inches, 22 unnumbered pp., very good-plus overall condition (the outer covers are fully intact and clean with a little wear at the gilt edges; the program is near-excellent - extremely clean and tight with bright pages; the ticket is in mint condition; comes with a limo pass in distressed shape with a missing piece at each side.
Although this 1989 Oscar program is all text (unlike more recent ones which have great color photos), it's a great collectible from a year with significant nominees and winners. Best Picture went to Mark Johnson for RAIN MAN, which also earned Best Director for Barry Levinson, Best Actor for Dustin Hoffman, and Best Original Screenplay for Ron Bass and Barry Morrow. Best Actress went to Jodie Foster for THE ACCUSED, Best Supporting Actor of Kevin Kline for A FISH CALLED WANDA, and Best Supporting Actress to Geena Davis for THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST. Best Adapted Screenplay went to Christopher Hampton for DANGEROUS LIASONS, Best Foreign Film to PELE THE CONQUEROR from Danish director Bille August, and Best Feature Documentary to French director Marcel Ophuls for HOTEL TERMINUS: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF KLAUS BARBIE.
