LOT 388Seller's Estimate: USD 4,150 - 5,520One electronically tested 14KT rose gold ladies cast coral and diamond ring with a bright polish finish. The featured coral cabochon is set within a diamond floret supported by a ribbed under gallery, completed by a three millimeter wide band. Identified with markings of "14K". Condition is new, good workmanship. Containing: One prong set oval cabochon cut natural salmon coral, measuring 16.00 x 12.10 x 5.50mm, approximate weight of 7.62ct., medium, very slightly brownish, orangy red color, (GIA oR 5/3), cut is good. Transmitting light very diffusely, opaque. Naturally occurring internal & external characteristics are present. Graded in the setting. Salmon Coral is formed undersea by microscopic animals called coral polyps. These tiny creatures form minute, hard shells. As a colony grows, it takes on complex branching, tree-like forms which allows the maximum number of polyps to be fed by the nutrients in the water. It grows about one quarter inch per year. This color of coral is commonly treated to improve or change the color and stability. Evidence that may confirm this is typically lacking.
