82ND AIRBORNE Glider Infantry D-DAY Silver Star SIGNED

DESCRIPTION: this is a genuine, hand-signed signature on a 3x5 card.

HISTORY: it was signed by James E. Bryant, a retired Command Sergeant-Major of the US Army. Bryant was from Virginia and went into the Army during World War II. He spent a year training in the 78th Infantry Division, then was assigned to the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment/82nd Airborne Division. He flew into Normandy on D Plus One in a glider and subsequently fought in Normandy and the division's other campaigns in WWII - Holland and the Battle of the Bulge, w he earned the SILVER STAR. He served in the Korean War and retired in 1966, having also earned the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and numerous other awards. He signed it in black ink: "James E. Bryant, CSM (Ret), 325th Glider Infantry, WWII, Silver Star, Bronze Star w/OLC." He is also the author of the 2003 book "Flying Coffins Over Europe: The Odyssey of a Glider Infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division During World War II."
