A History of Montana, Burlingame & Toole, 3 volumes

A History of Montana," by Merrill G. Burlingame and K. Ross Toole, three hardback volumes in very good condition, first edition, published in 1957 by the Lewis Historical Publishing Co., New York. These three volumes comprise one of the finest histories of Montana, and definitely the most elegant, ever published. Vols. I and II contain a narrative history of Montana, followed by essays on particular aspects of the state, including agriculture, commerce and industry, religion, metals and minerals, and the various regions of Montana. Vol. I has 410 pages, and Vol. II has 437 pages. Both volumes feature dozens of illustrations---black and white photographs and line drawings.
Vol. III consists of a series of biographies of prominent men and women in Montana history, illustrated with hundreds of photographic portraits. With index, 551 pages. All three volumes are in excellent condition, with a little normal wear but otherwise flawless.
