Abraham Lincoln 1862 Autograph Endorsement

Abraham Lincoln Autograph Endorsement dated Jan. 11, 1862 (Washington D.C.). Offered is a signed 6-line autograph endorsement by Lincoln which reads:

"I shall be glad for the within request to be granted, if it can be consistently with the public service." The 6 lines and signature are centered in a portion of a

folded sheet (probably detached from a letter to Lincoln). Lincoln directs the recipient to perform a particular action only if it does not contravene law and

established practice, leaving the determination of that up to the particular official. The Lincoln signature is bold. T is minor browning to the folded

sheet;otherwise,the endorsement is in nice condition. A letter of authenticity is provided by PSA/DNA services.
