Note! Just added at 5:30PM, June 12. I am more inclined to think that this crystal group is actually stephanite---a silver antimony sulfide. I base this upon closer visual examination and the presence of striations upon the crystals. I'm pleased to offer this sharp Acanthite or Stephanite crystal cluster with minor Quartz from the San Luis shaft, Proano mine, Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. This compound crystal cluster measures 1-1/8 x 7/8 x 5/8 inches or about 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm and is in excellent condition! This is a very fine and sharp cluster of intergrown crystals with a bit of quartz attached. Acanthite is a silver sulfide mineral and is found as good specimens in relatively few localities worldwide. Stephanite is a silver antimony sulfide mineral. Mexico has historically produced some of the finest specimens and the mines at Fresnillo are noted for their exceptional silver minerals. Good specimens are generally quite expensive and I rarely obtain such specimens due to the cost and general lack of availability. I was able to hand-pick a small number of specimens from an unsorted lot and was able to obtain some very fine acanthite, pyrargyrite and silver specimens at a very reasonable price. This is the sole remaining specimen and I'm happy to offer it at below my last show price. I will offer FREE shipping on this to anywhere
