Up for bid is a limited edition (750 sets made) WINTER SCENES collector plate. This plate is titled THE SNOW-STORM The collector sets were made to sell at B. Altman department stores in New York. Each plate has a lithographed scene created by N. Currier. Currier's company made lithograph from 1835 to 1850 (before the famous Currier & Ives duo. This plate has a scene of a man leading his team of oxen down a country road as they pull a sled full of logs. In the background is a quaint cottage surrounded by snowy trees and a wooden fence. One ray of winter sun shines through the clouds. The plate borders are brightly decorated with red, green, and yellow holly and miseltoe....BEAUTIFUL FOR CHRISTMAS!!! Plate is a semi porcelain or ironstone. 101/2" size EXCELENT condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. I have 5 additional plates with different scenes. What a statement the grouping would make all hung on a wall together or on a fireplace mantle! I also have a soup mug and bowl, and 12 3/8" platter. Check my other listings.
