Adventure was one of this country's most successful fiction magazines, both critically and profitability. The first issue was in 1910. Throughout the years, it has published work by such notables as Erle Stanley Gardner, Talbot Mundy, Jim Kjelgaard, Harold Lamb, Fredric Brown, Gore Vidal and many others. Among the notable artists have been Rockwell Kent, Charles Livingston Bull and HC Murphy. It shut its doors in 1971.
