This wood piece was found at an estate sale and I believe it to be quite old. It reads Sauer's Flavoring, Extracts and Colors---None Better----Seventeen Highest Awards and Gold Medals for Purity-Strength and Fine Flavor. It measures 23 1/4 inches in height and 6 1/2 inches across. The wood measures 3/4 inch thick. While t is mercury in the thermomter, It does not read the correct temperature. Temperature ranges from 120 degrees to -20 degrees. Some of the wood has worn off as shown in the pictures. The top small metal piece that holds the thermometer in place has been broken, however both pieces are still intact and can put together so that it appears as if it is not broken. This may be able to be seen in picture three. The piece at the bottom of the thermometer is made of metal, is intact with no chips, and has original nails in it. See picture 4 for detail on this. Picture 2 displays the unique back indicating directions for using this thermometer.
