AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE MUG CUP

SWALLOW PATTERN

Beech and Hancock, Swan Bank Potteries,

Staffordshire England

c. 1875

This Victorian 3 1/2 " tall x 3 1/4 " wide mug is transfer printed in rich dark chocolate brown.

The clear and crisp SWALLOW pattern features a wildly exotic geometric fence with large oversized flowers standing stately as a cluster of Swallows dive towards their friend sitting upon the fence. A fabulous Aesthetic pattern.

The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Beech and Hancock , a pottery maker working in the Swan Bank Potteries in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.

Never Used. The piece is in great condition, clean shiny and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs. A kiln kiss piece of pottery attached from touching another piece in the kiln.
