Alaskan Athabascan round basket

This coiled basket was one of the items that Deaconness Gertrude Sterne brought back with her in the 1940s after serving for 20 years as an Episcopal missionary in Alaska at Tanana and Anvik on the Yukon. Someone apparently put a small pot in the basket, perhaps fresh flowers in water. This caused the staining as picture shows,as well as some moderate wear to the fibers. Reason for the starting price!
