For your kind consideration today, we are offering you a lovely and dainty Airlite china Cup used by American Airlines shortly after World War II (1946) on the DC-3 Flagship Fleet. This china was especially designed by Syracuse China to be very lightweight, since weight was a critical factor in the early days of aviation. T were only three pieces of china in this set: a vegetable dish (very rare small bowl), a medium plate and coffee cup. All except the bowl have the AA eagle logo (with the eagle facing west) surrounded by seventeen stars, all in a pale light blue on the fine translucent ivory china. Later on American changed the direction to fly east and even later, the eastward flying eagle became a stylized design. All of the Airlite pieces are very desirable collectibles and a must have for any serious aviation collector.
