This is a very unique item. It is a fabulous sterling mounted bowl. It may actually be a champagne bottle holder. If so it is miles and above the most exotic one I have ever heard of. I first thought it was a small punch bowl. It is cut in a great detailed swirling comet pattern by J.Hoare. The pattern is deeply cut with rounded channels and notched miters in a swirling design. The base is ornately cut as well. The sterling is Gorham and has the 3 hallmarks, STERLING PK P. The sterling is fabulous being heavy and having excellent ornamentation. This is an exceptional piece so don't miss this opportunity. The sterling mounted Gorham and J. Hoare bowl measures 11 inches diameter and 6 inches tall. .
