This is a nice example of one of American Flyer's most spectacular engines from the link era. This 1951 342AC is a wonderful example of the 0-8-0 switcher engine. This one is complete and runs very well and smokes quite well. The lights still work both in front and in the tender. The visor over the front light is 100 percent and the little hook at the top of the ladder on the end of the tender is present. All handrails are present including the two on the front. There are two minor drawbacks. One, the engine has been rewired between the tender and engine, but it was done well and neatly (but with colored wire). Second, the rivet on the front tender truck has solder on it (why I don't know) but it doesn't affect how well this engine runs. The cab of this engine grades a very nice C-7 range while the tender is more like C-6. One 'n' in American on the right side of the tender is a little weak as can be seen in the pictures. As with all ebay auctions by Farner's Flyer there is a low starting bid and there is no reserve.TCA member since 1980.
