Anglo-Irish Antique Claret Jug Wine Decanter Diamond Cut Glass w/ Silver Plate

Anglo-Irish Antique Claret Jug Wine Decanter Diamond Cut Glass w/ Silver Plate
Description I just purchased this antique Cut Glass Claret Jug / Wine Decanter from a local estate here in Central Virginia. I suspect this decanter is Anglo-Irish dating to the late 19th century (perhaps Continental, it is unmarked). The diamond cut glass is beautifully executed with crisp detail to the prismatic banded design. The silver plate mount shows handsome chased detail and scrolled acanthus highlights to the finial and handle attachments. The piece measures 8" high, 6" wide at the handle and 5 ½" in diameter. The decanter is in excellent condition with the only note being a tiny, shallow flake on the waist edge (maybe 1/16" wide and 3/16" long, you have to look). This striking Claret Jug would make a fine addition to any collection of late 19th / early 20th century Cut Glass or Victorian / Edwardian bar setting.
