Antique 1800s Rotating Wrought Iron Door Dinner Bells/ ChimesThis is a fantastic old piece from the late 1800s. It is an interesting contraption made of wrought iron and consisting of a circular frame mounted with 8 alternating sized bells which are controlled by a centrally located handle. When the handle is turned, the bells ring, announcing the guests.
These were mounted on the fence or gate and by the front door of regal homes in the mid to late 19th century.
It is a really neat old piece in incredible condition. It works perfectly. There is some minor all over rust, but overall, it is in great shape. The bells are attached with the original cotter pins. The handle turns smoothly, and all of the bells chime.
The bracket that attaches to the wall measures 17". The diameter of the bell circle is 12 1/2".
