This is an Antique, wooden and tine, coal-fired foot warmer. It is mortise and tenon built with turned spindles. The tin sides and top are hand-punched. The door has a small metal ring that acts as a latch. The handle is a wire, bail style handle. The coal holder is heavy cast iron: it is a bit rusty but still solid. One of the tenon joints has is loose but intact. I would say that this piece is 1800's era
