Gates 1870, 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1876 1877, 1878, 18793 Diaries do not have Covers but all Pages are complete & intact to the binding- 7 Diaries to have Leather Covers with all pages being complete & intact.Diaries are Pocket Diaries with an Almanac, Graph showing Population, Distances and Time by Railroad from New York Page,-Diaries have a Daily Page for the complete years - Mostly what is written is- what Francis Gates had spent on his Farm & information on his Crops, Livestock, Finances & Buying & Trading Goods & Names of Men who Worked with Him on the Homestead Farm.These are daily diaries with mostly very short descriptions for the day.These Diaries had been found in a Wooden Crate Completely Sealed, leaving this in a Very Well Preserved Condition.Senator Francis H. Gates (1839-1925) American Politician from New York- He was the son of Daniel Gates and Lany Gates, was born & died on the Gates Homestead two miles southwest of the village of Chittenango in Madison County, New York. He attended common schools, Yates Polytechnic Institute, Fort Plain Seminary and Clinton Liberal Institute. He married Fannie Everson and their son was State Senator John W. Gates (1872-1966).
