PROUDLY Signed (Everett L. Hastings Sept. 8 , 1898) AMERICAN 45 STAR FLAG 1898 - 5' x 9' All Wool Material (Well Preserved) PROVENANCE: I Received this Flag from Mr. Hastings Granddaughter - Comes Complete with Original Real Photograph and a News Article (Dated July 6, 1960) that appeared in the Petoskey (Michigan) News Regarding it's Origin and History. Article (See Scanned Image Below) Reads as Follows: "A 62 YEAR-OLD FLAG (NOW 108 Years Old) STILL FLIES. Everett Hastings of Boyne City, displayed at his residence, Lincoln St., a flag of which he is justly proud. The flag contains 45 stars and was given to Mr. Hastings when he was 5 years old. In talking with Mr. Hastings, who is a historian, he told of many interesting places in which the flag had been displayed. Since he became the owner in 1898, the flag has hung in classrooms of schools in Alaska, in 1899, then in Seattle, Wash., Florida, New York State and Detroit, as Mr. Hastings lived in various parts of the country. The 45-Star flag is 5' x 9' and is made of Excellently preserved fine all-wool material."
