26 1/4" Long x 7 1/2" Wide 1 1/8" Thick4 lbs 3 oz Lovely example of a early to mid 19th century country wooden wash board. Used with wash basins, clothing would have been soaked in water with soap or lye then scrubbed against the ribbed edges of the board to work the apparel or linens being washed. From countless times of use over a long period of time the ribbed raised sections of the board have been worn to a wonderful smooth patina.
