Antique, 4/4 Violin, Jacobus Stainer, copy to restore

Here is a beautiful antique Jacobus Stainer full size violin, that is probably a copy. The violin design is ranked with some of the greats of violin making. The label inside reads, " Jacobus Stainer in absam prope oenipontum 1736". The number 36 on the date is hand written. The label translates to, made near Innsbruck. Although an exact country of origin is not found, a good guess is that this is an Austrian or German made instrument. The violin is very solid, there are no open cracks or sections separating. Two old repairs have been found, that were made using tiny screws,(see photos #10 & #11). The violin was found without the bow, tail piece, bridge, and missing one tuning peg. The case is in fair condition, it does close and latch.

The body measures 14 inches, and about 23 3/8 inches overall.
