Early Antique All-Bisque Kestner Wrestler - No Reserve! This little doll is a darling example of what the Kestner company got right from the get-go and kept on getting right throughout their long manufacturing history. It's what makes Kestner dolls so prized by collectors. Her bisque is lovely, her face paint is precise and her body molding is endearingly chubby -- like the Victorian child she is meant to represent. This style of doll has been nicknamed "the Wrestler" because of her stocky body and the position of her arms. She's only 6" tall (half inch taller with wig), but she's got so much presence! Don't you love her solemn little expression? This is an early doll. The top of her head is a solid dome like the so-called "Belton" dolls. She has no incised mark on the head or neck and is free of chips. There is a speck of kiln dust on her tummy and another on the top of her head, where the pink body color is uneven - these are factory original issues and are covered by her original mohair wig. Also covered is what looks like an "M" which may have been the painter's mark. I have re-dressed her in a vintage straw hat and a darling crochet outfit made by a talented e-bay seller.
