Antique Amish 1800s HORSE & BUGGY iron steel wood TOY
- Source: eBay
is a very unique horse/buggy toy. I cannot find any markings to indicate manufacturer or date, but I was told from a few people that this is probably close to 100 years old, if not older! The horse looks to be made of wood with a plaster covering. The ears have a couple chips and it looks like wood underneath. The plaster also has shrinkage cracks on the belly of the horse. The buggy is made from steel and the seat/cover are a canvas material. The reigns are leather, and the tail may very well be real horse hair. I have had a few people look at it, and they agree that the tail may be very old, coarse horse hair--maybe from a Belgian draft horse or some horse similar to that. The wheels do roll. T looks to have been a bridle setup, but that is gone. The overall dimensions are: 16/17" long 10" tall (buggy), and 9" tall (horse). T is very good detail on the horses' head!
