Antique Art Deco 18ct Gold Carved Turquoise Egyptian Scarab Ring

A wonderful piece of history. A stunning finest quality antique art deco period 18ct gold Egyptian Scarab ring.
A superb quality antique ring which is bezel set with a carved natural turquoise stone in the design of a scarab. Scarabs were used in ancient Egypt for protection in the afterlife. Large "heart scarabs" were placed across the chest of the deceased in the tomb. They were also found in place of the heart in mummified bodies. These heart scarabs were believed to protect the dead in the final judgment. The most famous of these was a chest or "pectoral" scarab found in Thebes in the tomb of King Tutankhamen. Following the discovery of the Tutankhamen tomb, a huge rise in the popularity of scarab jewellery ensued.
It has an 18ct gold shank which is in super condition, it has been resized in the past, the hallmark is missing but it tests as 18ct or higher.
The head of the ring measures 15mm x 10mm. It is a size UK O or US 7.5.
