Offered is a vintage cast iron rolling adjustable stand or base or pedestal, possibly for a drafting table or tool / work platform in a shop or factory. The height is adjustable from 29" to 40" by twisting the double handle in the center of the upright, which turns the screw attached to the upper supports. The plate to which the top is attached, as well as the gear which adjusts the tilt of the top, is made of cast brass, as are the fittings that hold the upper and lower sections upright together. The tilt is accomplished by turning the hand wheel either direction. The cast iron base is comprised of three 12" long 'legs'. The tips of these are 22" apart. There is a cast iron wheel / caster on the end of each. All but a few small spots of black paint have been removed and the entire piece wire brushed to a very clean (but by no means 'new') condition. None of the metal has been sealed, as the new owner may wish to let it develop a more aged appearance. With the brass fittings, this is a particularly attractive piece. A plate glass top would complete this beautifully, as it would allow viewing of the fittings while still being a functional piece of funiture. This will ship partially disassembled. Re-assembly will require only a standard screw driver. Shipping cost from here (St. Louis) to Los Angeles would be about $48. as an example.
