Hello and thank you for stopping by....Today I am offering an ANTIQUE WOODEN CIGARETTE CASE WITH MUSIC BOX. This piece was purchased in Japan before World War II. Open the top to reveal storage for 20 cigarettes. Under this space is an area that houses some old lights that I believe used to light up when the music box plays, but they no longer work. The shorter side is for matches, and t is also 2 small lightbulbs underneath that do not appear to work. The top of the taller side looks like it has an inlaid wood pattern in the middle in an art deco style. The front features an open scrolling pattern carved into the wood. T is some kind of clear plastic or lucite behind the scrollwork. The taller side also has a wooden owl attached to the front. T is a small drawer on the back to hold the used matches. Music box plays a well-known Japanese tune. It is marked on the bottom with Japanese characters and the word PATENT (the N is backwards though.) In very good condition, with only minor scuffs in the wood. Measures about 8.5" long, 6.25" tall, and 4.75" wide.
