~~ Antique ~ Cleveland Fare Box ~ Patents Pending~Cleveland, Ohio ~~~~~ Brass, cast and glass antique mechanical fare collection box with glass encased coin/token shute, brass lever, locking front access door with number plate "43" and cast-molded raised metal panel with: "CLEVELAND FARE BOX ~ PATENTS PENDING ~ CLEVELAND OHIO", removable brass & cast handled lock box/coin receptacle with hinged & locking brass door, number plate "504", and brass lock-block chained to interior of box. T are no keys. Measurements are approximately: 28-3/8"h overall, 17-1/4"h excluding chute assembly x 6"w x 7"d. Except for two chips at the bottom of the right panel, the glass is intact and undamaged, lever works smoothly, lock-box slides smoothly and remains firmly in place. The front door of the main unit does not close completely because it was locked open, and its bottom hinge is cracked. Because of its excellent appearance, it is apparant the unit was painted and polished after its "retirement" from fare collection duty. The previous owner indicated that the fare box was purchased at a local auction offering items from the Johnstown, Pennsylvania trolley line. ~This Auction Ends Monday~ ~~~ Return of this item will be accepted, but purchase price only will be refunded and I will not pay return shipping costs. ~ Thank
