Antique 7 Draw Cox Devonport Optician to the R.W.Y.C. Telescope Circa 1822-1857

This is the second of four antique telescopes I am placing up for auction. All of these telescopes have six draws or more which is relatively uncommon, and are at least 150 years old (or older). This second telescope was made by "Cox Devonport" along with "Optician to the R.W.Y.C." so marked on the smallest draw. This is a rare seven draw model. William Charles Cox worked out of Devonport and Plymouth between 1822-1857. The Royal Western Yacht Club (R.W.Y.C.) is evidently one of the oldest of its kind, and Cox was commissioned to make telescopes for them. The draws are nice and tight and when properly extended, deliver a clear image. The base barrel is covered with stitched leather which is in very nice shape. The eyepiece lens is protected by a sliding lens protector. The metal components appear to be nickel silver or silverplate - not sure which. The telescope measures only 5.5" retracted and 26.5" with all seven draws extended. This is a well machined telescope. Buyer pays shipping and required insurance. I do not ship to China and payment is expected within 3 days of the end of the auction.

Buyer pays shipping and required insurance ($15.00 in continental USA and $55.00 international).
