ANTIQUE PUB Bar Mount CORKSCREW This is a terrific Antique English "Merritt" corkscrew that mounts to a table. It was purchased in England in the 1950's while the owner was stationed in the army. The corkscrew measures approx. 10" but when the wood handle is straight up it is 18.5" to the top. The base is about 5.25" in diameter. Because this is a solid piece it weighs a hefty 7.5 lbs all by itself. It's marked on the back with the name Chambers (Cornelius Chambers was the man granted the British patent for this corkscrew in 1888) along with the patent number 11890. The base says "The MERRITT". I was told that the patent number dates this piece to the late 1800's. It appears to be in Excellent Condition with nice patina. T are four holes in the base to mount it to a table or bar area. For all the "twisted" people out t I've added some extra pictures! Also, the corkscrew has been tested and works just fine. Pleasewait for me to send an invoice at the end of the auction with the exact amount of shipping. The shipping quoted is an estimate and may go up or down a little when the item is fully packed. I only charge ACTUAL and never any handling fees. Insurance is based on the final selling price.
