ANTIQUE *EVANS* ART POTTERY DEXTER, MISSOURI CLAY BROWN PITCHER FOLK ART DESIGN

THIS IS A RARE 1800's BROWN CLAY PITCHER, ( DARKER BROWN IN PERSON, ) PRODUCED IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THIS DEXTER. MO. COMPANY, EVANS POTTERY. THE FAMILY RAN THEIR COMPANY FROM AROUND 1850-1942, SEE WILLIAM KETCHUM JR., AMERICAN POTTERY, pp 139-140 WHERE THIS POTTERY IS DISCUSSED AND SOME OF THESE PIECES ARE PICTURED.
A LOT OF THEIR POTTERY HAD TREE BARK TEXTURE. THEY INCORPORATED TREE LIMBS INTO THE DESIGN OF MANY OF THEIR PIECES.
ITS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH A few very small paint loss, chips. NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR OTHER DAMAGE.
MEASURES APPROX. 9" TALL X 6" ACROSS THE BOTTOM. THE BROWN GLAZE ON THIS PIECE IS FANTASTIC.
