Antique Fielding Royal Crown Devon Gilded Straffordshire Vase / Urn - 1920s Art Nouveau Gold, Red Chrysanthemum - Decor, Interior DesignThis beautiful vase/urn made by S. Fielding & Co (Ltd), Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. This is Crown Devon vase. Crown Devon is one of the most famous brands in Staffordshire history. It was finally developed by 1912 when Railway Works – original name of factory - was renamed The Devon Pottery. The name Crown Devon is synonymous with quality. Originally these were inexpensive pieces and now they remain the most collectible and searched. Vase on this auction is in Art Nouveau style. It is made of earthenware. It has egg shape with long and wide round opening. Two gilded handles on the sides. Vase is of cream or ivory background of matte finish. Marvelous and expressive large red/gold chrysanthemum is embossed on its front. It is accompanies by gilded leaves and transparent gray branches with small red/pink flowers. Another side features matching picture of smaller flowers and gilded branches. Gold band at the opening completes this design. Vase is marked on the backside with Crown Devon stamp. This is production of c. 1920s – 1930s. Other marking is number 66 written in red on the bottom. There is some crazing.
