Offered for your consideration is an excellent vintage traditional Finnish horsehead Puukko knife. The horsehead Puukko is a very popular traditional Finnish pattern and Juho Lammi was the maker who originally designed the horsehead pommel. He designed the pommel for a calvary officer in his military unit. This example shows no markings, so I'm not sure who it was made by. It appears to have the remants of some type of carving on one side of the handle, although it could just be scratches.If you're a knife collector, enthusiast, or just appreciate a high-quality, well-made knife and you haven't had the pleasure of owning a classic Finnish knife, you owe it to yourself to have at least one example of these fantastic knives. These knives are almost always of exceptional quality and their performance and durability are rarely matched. They are exceptionally versatile knives that were usually made by highly skilled craftsman whose skills were passed down through the generations. The blades of older examples are simply outstanding. Most were hand forged and zone tempered and offer rare quality and performance.The knife has seen light to moderate use and remains very nice.
