Jaspe pottery bowl, late 19th century, France. 9 1/4”Dia X 4”H. Bold, geometric applied slip design of green and browns on warm yellow ground. Exceptional to find bowls of this size in intact condition . No breaks, hairlines or repairs. The wear to rim, and scratches on inside bottom are appropriate to age and original utilitarian purpose. Jaspe is a rustic pottery from the Savoie region of southern France made from the late 19th century through the early 20th. The glazed and slip decorated designs are mostly swirls of color or geometric lines and dots. Please examine photos carefully, using enlarge/zoom features.
