Vintage German Lowbrow China Peddler Doll Description: This beauty of a china lowbrow doll is a super size for display- a nice cabinet-sized 17" tall! And with her little peddler's box of Victorian paper scraps, she's sure to be popular with the other German china ladies in your collection! She has a pretty lowbrow style head, with pale buttercup blonde hair and pretty blue eyes. Unmarked as to maker, she is marked "Germany, 3' on the back of her shoulderplate. Circa 1880s-early 90s or so, her modeling is fine enough that we do think she is by Hertwig, though we will leave you to be the final judge. She is one of the more jolly faced chinas we've seen in a while- we guess business is good! Her face is quite pretty, with a lovely symmetrical lowbrow hairstyle, with sculpted curls and a deep centered part down the middle; her little ears are just showing, and the blonde hair is a nice uniform shade all around. Her face has very brightly painted pink cheeks, a beestung red mouth with upturned smile line, bright sky blue eyes with brown (most unusual, rather than black lid lines) and red lid lines and small black pupils, and very thin and long one-stroke symmetrical light auburn brows.
