ITEM: This is a mint 1940s occupied Japan cigarette box, ashtray, match holder and tray set. This set was given as an award from the Ishikawamura (Ishikawa Village, located in Ishikawa Prefecture), Nouchi Iinkai (Agricultural Land Committee). It was never used and still has the original wood case. The wood case still has the original tax stamp n it that is dated Showa 24, which is 1949. The theme is a classical one that spans throughout Japan's history, dragon vs. tiger. On the tray t are three scenes, Kinkakuji /wiki/Kinkakuji , Meotoiwa /wiki/Meotoiwa and Miyajima /wiki/Miyajima On the bottom of the tray reads OCCUPIED JAPAN. The set is made of plated metal with gilt highlights on the dragon, tiger, seagulls and some of the waves. The set is very beautiful and weighs over 1 kilo. This wrapped and boxed will be about 2 kilos, so shipping will be a little expensive I am afraid. I am sure the winner will find it worth it though. Even if you don't smoke, this makes a wonderful display. The set measures 9-5/8 inches x 5.25 inches x 2.5 inches. I would rate it extremely+ nice condition, it has never been used before.
