Antique Japanese Kiri Wood Hibachi Taisho-Period

Beautiful antique "hibachi", a traditional Japanese hand/room warmer, dating to the Taisho-Period (c.1920). This mid-sized hibachi is carved from a solid piece of Kiri (paulownia) wood, prized among Japanese wood workers and craftsmen for its strength, light weight, and workability. Though simple in design, this piece has a rustic charm accentuated by painted daisy embossments. T is a copper insert, which is in excellent condition and has developed a beautiful patina. The hibachi measures roughly 10 inches tall by 11 1/2 inches in diameter, and is in very good overall condition for its considerable vintage. Please inspect photos closely.
