This is a very rare antique circa 1855 wax sealer fruit canning jar originally a product of Lorenz & Wightman of Pittsburgh, PA. The mold for these jars originally were imprinted L & W in script and under that a large XL. As the story goes, when Lorenz died in 1854, Wightman chipped the "L" and the "&" off the wood molds as well as the "XL" for whatever reason. This left a ghost impression of those letters removed on all future jars produced by those molds. I tried to take pictures so you could see the ghost image clearly but the camera didn't pick it up that well. This jar is in excellent condition as you can see. No cracks, chips, etc. except for two very minor chips on the outer ring of the wax seal trough - very minor. I'm not sure how many of these jars still exist but I can't imagine many.
