Antique PAIRPOINT Art Glass Globe Lamp S. Plate Base

We are offering for auction a truly outstanding solid glass prism globe lamp on a heavy silverplate base. This beautiful lamp was made by the Pairpoint Mfg. Co. of New Bedford, Mass., founded in 1880. In 1894, the celebrated Mt. Washington Glass Co. became part of the Pairpoint organization. T.J. Pairpoint, founder of the company, is recognized as one of the first in this country to visualize silver as an art medium and his silver designs are held in high esteem. The company became recognized as an important manufacturer of high quality cut glass, art glass, and silver objet d'art items.

The lamp we are offering has been in the possession, since its purchase ca.1906, of a very old Md. family which traces its roots to the original settlers of the state. As you can see from the pictures, the globe is lit from beneath and is truly a thing of beauty whether lighted or with the sunlight bringing forth all the colors of the prism in its depths. T is one flaw in the globe, which we have shown in a magnified picture. The actual size is approx. 1/4". Family history has it that it was caused by a BB gun. Otherwise, the whole lamp is in very good condition. The base is richly detailed with classical motifs and rests on cushion feet.
