Up for auction is an original antique etching print by the noted Seattle, Washington / Pacific Northwest- artist Paul Morgan Gustin of a rustic cityscape in Luynes, France including the renowned Castle of Luynes. The etching was created ca. 1924. According to the book From Lake Union to the Louvre: The Etchings of Paul Morgan Gustin , this print was made in a limited edition of 50 (illustrated on page 27), and is one of twelve plates Gustin etched between 1923 and 1926 when he traveled throughout Europe. The etching is signed "Luynes Gustin" within the plate in the lower left corner, and is pencil-signed by Gustin's hand in the lower left margin and titled in pencil "Luynes" in the lower right margin. The plate size measures 5" x 6.25", and the print is housed in its original frame and bears its original paper backing with the "Seattle Art Co. 1423- 3rd Ave." label (the store this print would have been sold out of in the 1920s). The print is in excellent visible condition with no rips, stains, holes, of foxing/mold spots; the piece has not been examined outside of the frame. Please feel free to ask question. Item sold as is.
