MARKED AND NUMBERED PITTSBURGH LAMP & GLASS CO. #199 RAMS HEAD LAMP! Pittsburgh Lamp Brass and Glass Co - Pittsburgh, PA - c. 1901 - 1926 was founded by renowned chemist, Nicolas Kopp in 1901. He used his knowledge to make beautiful lamps and tableware in many colors, as well as fine etched crystal. Kopp had developed Selenium Red earlier that met the railroadâe(tm)s signaling light standards, and it was very profitable as the railroad industry flourished. In 1903 the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass and Glass Company (commonly called âeoePilabrasgoâe) absorbed Dithridge & Company. The prosperity didn't last forever, and in 1926 Pilabrasgo went bankrupt. Beautiful estate lamp...one of many we will be listing in the coming days. This piece is clearly marked with the Pittsburgh Lamp Brass and Glass Co. mark on the bottom of the base, within the metal along with the model number of 199. Four rams heads surround the font base with drapery accents connecting them. Floral scrolled enhancements rise up from the base foot to support the main body. Currently t is a Success brass font sitting within the base. Although the font itself is capable of holding fuel, I have never seen the current set up that it has for a burner before...appears to be set up as a cylinder burner...flame spreader is missing perhaps as well as needing a new burner or gallery?
