This is a pair of wonderful, early molded flint glass candlesticks that were manufactured ca. 1840-50 by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company of Sandwich, Massachusetts. The pair were molded in striking canary yellow glass in the petal and loop pattern. Each candlestick has a six-petal supported by a hexagonal-sided shaft joined by a wafer to the seven-loop base. This candlestick form is a well-known one for Sandwich glass and is noted and illustrated in the definitive book The Glass Industry in Sandwich by Raymond E. Barlow and Joan E. Kaiser, 1989 (see Vol. IV, Figure 4037). Each candlestick measures 7 in, in height and has a base diameter of 4 1/4 in. ). The candlesticks are in fair condition for their age; one has a repaired broken shaft and the other has a break repair to two petals on the socket. Both have minor "fleabites" under the petals and one has a small (1/4 in.) chip to the underside of the base. This is a chance to own a good-looking pair of this coveted type of canary yellow Sandwich glass candlestick at a reasonable price. Auction prices of these candlesticks in excellent condition can range in the $100s! Please examine the detailed images and ask any questions before you bid. These classic types of molded flint glass candlesticks are a "must" for any collector of early American glass! Payment: Paypal required
