ANTIQUE PAIR OF SEVRES BRONZE ORMOLU TAZZAS - SIGNED FRAGONARD LATE 18TH CENTURY Gorgeous Sevre Tazza/Comport - painting of a couple learning dance steps together outdoors, and another of a courting couple flirting the painting is set against a white porcelain background, and decorated by gold scroll work the rectangular dish is mounted on an elaborate bronze pedestal with ornate delicate feet and handles there is bronze work on the rim of the tazza, the condition of the pieces is near mint the painting is marked FRAGONARD, a well known artist, who worked at Sevres in the middle to late 1700's. He is one of the better known artists from that period the piece itself is marked on the bottom with the famous blue double L's along with the words MADE IN FRANCE HANDPAINTED. WITHIN THE DOUBLE L'S IS THE LETTER D - THIS IS THE DATE MARK FOR 1756 I have shown the two small tazzas with the larger comport which is being auctioned separately. I also have the two huge comport. There are 5 piees to this set. There are a total of 8 pieces of Sevres that were bought from the estate of the Simard family. A well known wealthy Quebec family who collected only the best in art, furniture, porcelain, art glass, and silver.
